Applications
Increased use of computer-assisted image guidance in spinal surgery has improved precision for implant placement. Widely used in the lumbar spine, nowhere is the need for precision more critical than in the cervical spine. There is a much smaller target bone volume, the vertebral arteries are intimately related to the vertebral bone complex, and the cervical spinal cord and nerve roots are in close proximity.
The Robotic system currently being developed by KB Medical focuses on spinal surgery. It consists of components providing specific functionalities. These components can be reassembled for other important surgical applications. KB Medical woll use its know-how gained from development of the SPINE system to provide these other surgical applications. Our goal is to make them cost-saving and to improve operation quality at the same time.
